LENGKONG, AYOBANDUNG.COM -- Indonesian government has announced the 'new normal' amid the continued rise of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. And President Joko Widodo has plans to reopen sports facilities under health protocols in the third phase of 'New Normal', June 15.
What is exactly the 'New Normal'? It is a change of people behavior to carry out activities with super strict health protocols. The aim is to prevent transmission of the coronavirus.
We're wondering if new normal can be applied in Indonesian football competitions, such as Liga 1. Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) decision to continue or stop the competition is still worth to wait.

The association depends the fate of the competition to the government who declare national emergency for the Covid-19 outbreak until May 29.
Persib Bandung coach Robert Alberts said PSSI needs to issue new health protocol during the 'new normal' to restart the league.
"We discussed it with our players and management. We assume their (PSSI & LIB) decision is the league will continue in July, so we can train in early June," he said in his YouTube channel.

"We need standard health protocol to remain safe and healthy. We play football, the supporters watch (on television). We can play (football) in empty stadium just like other countries," Robert added.
Other countries success in reopening sport events was determined by the success of the government in combating the coronavirus, he said. European football, for example, which has been disturbed by coronavirus, is now starting to rise under the 'new normal'.
Bundesliga becomes Europe's first major league to resume after two-month shutdown due to coronavirus pandemic, followed by Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga by next month.
In Asia, Korea and Vietnam were also rolling back their football league after successfully suppressed the outbreak of the Covid-19. While in Indonesia, the number of infected people continues to grow.
If Indonesia gets better, Robert assumed the league can be restarted in August. He added that players need to restore their good condition after a long break.
"If the league stops, we hope it can resume in August and finish in April/May 2021. And the new league can start in August 2021. We can learn from Europa league season," he said.
